I found a solution, I uninstalled the hands free driver manually. In my case I tried to switch from hands-free to stereo manually all the time (it sets hands-free default) and yet it used to not work until I used to disconnect the hands-free version in the play-back device settings . It seems windows installs two different drivers "stereo" and "hands-free", I don't know why but it does. I had the same problem, I had to screw around with the drivers after which I got it working in the end. I have been able to make a temporary fix by disabling "Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator" in Device Manager, which causes those green bars to unfreeze and sound to start playing, but after a time the connection to the headphones drops(presumably because I've I've noticed that when I try to test the sound by adjusting the volume, in "playback devices" the green bars The headphones work just fine on my desktop, which is also running Windows 10, and the drivers have all been updated.
